About EWI Review
EWI Review, the magazine
EWI Review was the quarterly magazine of the department of Economy, Science and Innovation (EWI), which offered its own distinctive insights into the world of economy, science and innovation. Generally speaking, the need for public administrations to present and explain their activities to the interested layman is less obvious than for companies, interest groups and research institutions.
Communicating on a regular basis about what is going on within its policy domain fitted in with the EWI department's communication strategy. EWI Review situates itself between the scientific and popularised levels.
To review means taking a fresh look at scientific texts or actions, only this time from a customer-friendly perspective. EWI's core customers are the interested public, enterprise, universities and colleges of higher education.
12 issues
Each EWI Review issue highlighted a topical theme and featured articles by our own staff as well as external experts and experts by experience. The year 2011 (4th publication year) saw the final issue: “EWI Review 12 | Entrepreneurship in Flanders: who dares?”.
A study performed mid 2011 by the independent research bureau Indigov in view of streamlining the EWI department communication, indicated that in 2012 there is a need for a new and more future oriented alternative. So, despite the overall positive reception, the publication of EWI Review was brought to a definitive end.
