Research Infrastructures (such as ESFRI’s) are characterized by the very significant data volumes they generate and handle but the research data landscape is still fragmented.
The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) wants to address the current situation including the support of thematic clusters of Pan-European research infrastructures dedicated to the EOSC.
Mr. Michel Schouppe, senior advisor at the European Commission, will introduce the audience to the goals, the timing, the stakeholders and the different committees/commissions/governance boards which will shape the (EOSC).
Mr. Frederik Coppens (VIB) and Mr. Klaas Deneudt (VLIZ) are involved in the ESFRI-Cluster projects in the life sciences and the environmental sciences respectively.
Mr. Bart Dumolyn will give insight in the Flemish FOSB initiative (Flemish open science board) supporting the EOSC, and the EOSC Governance Board.

Onderzoeksinfrastructuren (zoals ESFRI’s) worden gekenmerkt door de enorme hoeveelheden data die ze genereren en verwerken. Toch is het onderzoekslandschap in dit verband nog steeds versnipperd.
De European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) wil aan deze situatie tegemoet komen, onder andere door de ondersteuning van de zogenaamde “thematische clusters” van pan-Europese onderzoeksinfrastructuren.
Michel Schouppe, senior beleidsadviseur bij de Europese Commissie zal de doelstellingen, timing en “governance” van de EOSC toelichten.
Frederik Coppens (VIB) en Klaas Deneudt (VLIZ) zijn betrokken bij respectievelijk het ESFRI clusterproject van de life sciences en de environmental sciences.
Bart Dumolyn vertelt u meer over het Vlaamse Flemish Open Science Board inititatief in relatie tot de EOSC, en zijn rol in de EOSC Governance Board.
